Native of Chechnya claims unfair accusation of fellow countrymen in Volgograd Region

In the Volgograd Region, a prosecutor has demanded long prison terms for several natives of Chechnya, who refuse to plead guilty, a relative of one of the defendants has stated in his video appeal to Ramzan Kadyrov.

A brother of a Chechen native arrested in the Volgograd Region on charges of extortion has turned to the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, on the eve of his relative's sentencing. According to the man, who has recorded the video appeal in the Chechen language, several natives of Chechnya, including his 34-year-old brother, have been under investigation for more than three years on unfair charges. The verdict, which should be announced on December 26, has been certainly predefined, the author of the appeal believes.

According to the author, out of ten defendants, six or seven are natives of Chechnya. Young people were arrested for minor offenses, but the investigator presented them as an organized criminal grouping, and now they are facing undeservedly long prison terms, he says in the video, translated by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The author claims that one of the defendants had slandered the others under pressure.
