Volgograd: more first aid calls because of heat

The abnormally hot weather in Volgograd caused increase by 50-80 percent of the number of citizens' calls to the medical first aid service.

"In July and August, the number of calls made by city residents to the first aid service went up from traditional 1000 to 1800 calls a day. We had from 70 to 85 ambulances permanently working in the city; that is, sometimes one crew had to serve up to 25 calls per day," Nina Galkina, acting head of the operations division of the First Aid Station No. 7 of Volgograd, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to her story, the abnormal heat victims were elderly people, children and persons aged 25-50, working outdoor - in the city streets.
Within the last two months, the air temperature in Volgograd was above 40 degrees Centigrade.
