Azerbaijan Parliament condemns Swiss Parliament for recognition of Armenian Genocide

On December 23, the Azerbaijan Parliament passed a statement in which it expressed a stern protest against the recognition by the Swiss Parliament of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire in 1915. The statement points to the groundlessness of the "myth" about the Armenian Genocide and to the distortion of historical facts. "The reality is that Armenian nationalists are those who have been pursuing an aggressive policy against the Azerbaijanians and Turks for two hundred years. The entire Azerbaijan population of Armenia has been exiled from this country as a result of it. Moreover, Armenia occupied 20 percent of the Azerbaijan territory, including Nagorny Karabakh and seven areas adjacent to it. 20 thousand Azerbaijanians were killed and over 50 thousand were injured and crippled as a result of this aggression," reads the statement.

The Azerbaijan Parliament regarded the decision of the Swiss Parliament as "appropriation of the role of a judge and intervention in internal affairs of the other state." This decision does more than not contribute to making peace in the Caucasus, on the contrary, it complicates its achievement, hold the Azerbaijan deputies.
