Federation Council approved prolongation of mandate of Russian peacekeepers in Georgian-Abkhazian conflict zone

On December 10, the Federation Council approved the prolongation of the mandate of the Russian peacekeepers deployed in the zone of the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict as a part of the CIS Peacekeeping Forces. There are 3 thousand Russian peacekeepers in the zone of the conflict. They will stay there till one of the parties declares for the cessation of the peacekeeping operation.
