Cultural and sports festival "Caucasian Games" hosted by Kabardino-Balkaria
More than 1500 athletes from all regions of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) took part in the cultural and sports festival "Caucasian Games" that ended in Kabardino-Balkaria.
After a short concert with participation of the republic's dancing groups, Aslanbek Khushtov, Olympic Games Champion in Greco-Roman wrestling, lit fire of the Caucasian Games, and a parade of participants was held. The honourable right to bear flag of the Caucasian Games was granted to the delegation of Dagestan.
The final competitions of the table tennis were won by masters of sports Denis Demanov and Irina Bityutskaya, resident of Nalchik.
In the competitions in table tennis among men, the second place went to Vadim Skalikhin, a student of the NGTI (Nevinnomyssk State Humanitarian and Technical Institute) from Nevinnomyssk, among women to Tatiana Taranova, entrepreneur from Svetlograd. The third place went to Dagestani athletes Konstantin Avanesov from Makhachkala and Maryam Bammatkazieva from Kizilyurt.
In walking on stilts, the first place went to Ingiskhan Ozdoev from Ingushetia, and the second place to Eldar Boziev from the village of Nizhnyaya Zhemtala (Kabardino-Balkaria). The third place went to Aliskhan Ozdoev from the Chechen Republic.
The competitions of weight lifting a sandbag was won by Aslambek Oshroev, a resident of the Terek District of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR). He raised the sandbag 76 times. The second place went to Taimuraz Baskaev, a resident of the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR), and the third place went to an athlete from Ingushetia.
