Resident of Chechnya convicted of attempting to join militants in Syria
On August 19, an 18-year-old resident of the Grozny District was sentenced to imprisonment for his attempt to go to Syria and join the terrorist organization “Islamic State” (IS) banned in Russia.
He was detained and already gave confessions, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the Prosecutor's Office of Chechnya.
The Grozny District Court has sentenced the young man to three years in a general-security colony with a subsequent restriction of freedom for one year.
