Political prisoner Guseinov to continue his fight against corruption in Azerbaijan (+video)

On August 7, Firangiz Guseinova, a mother of sentenced Azerbaijani blogger Mekhman Guseinov and his brother Emin Guseinov, who migrated to Europe for political reasons, was buried in Baku. The sentenced blogger was given a leave from a penal colony to attend the funeral ceremony. The brothers announced their intention to continue to fight corruption.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 6, the mother of Mekhman Guseinov died. He was given a leave for several hours from the penal colony to attend the funeral. Mekhman and his brother Emin accused the Azerbaijani authorities of their mother's death.

After his detention, Mekhman Guseinov complained about being tortured for disobeying the police.

Mekhman Guseinov has said that the death of his mother will not break him and he will continue his anticorruption investigations after his release from prison (his sentence will expire on March 3, 2019, - note of the "Caucasian Knot").

Shortly before his arrest in January 2017, Mekhman Guseinov published a video on Facebook, which, according to him, showed luxury villas belonging to Azerbaijani ministers.

Ali Kerimli, the leader of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), treats as a "political vengeance" the refusal to Mekhman Guseinov to meet his mother when she was alive.

"Mekhman Guseinov is avenged for exposing corruption crimes," Ali Kerimli stated.
