Ingush activists compare cases of Dobriev and Khashagulgov

The case of the participation of Abo Dobriev in the armed underground, instituted after they failed to prove his participation in the protest action, has reminded law enforcers' statements about links of the activist Muslim Khashagulgov with militants, Ingush oppositionists have noted.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Abo Dobriev, detained after the rally in Magas and taken to the temporary isolation facility (known as IVS) of Nalchik, was suspected of attacking law enforcers. However, on April 7, these suspicions were dropped from him; and another case was initiated – on organizing a criminal community in 2012-2013.

On March 26, residents of Ingushetia, protesting against the fixing of a new border with Chechnya and demanding a referendum on this issue, extended their initially sanctioned action in Magas without an authorities' sanction. On the following day, there were clashes with law enforcers. According to investigators, ten policemen were injured.

The repeated detentions of young people just released from the IVS are law enforcers' and authorities' attempts to intimidate activists, Ruslan Mutsolgov, the head of the Ingush branch of the "Yabloko" Party, is sure.

"An indicative example is the detention of Abo Dobriev, who is suspected of attacking law enforcers. His father insisted that his son was innocent, because he could not take part in the rally, moreover – to attack law enforcers, because he was asleep after the night shift. After a check, the guy was released, but immediately arrested again for another reason: on suspicion of participating in an illegal armed formation (IAF) in 2012," Ruslan Mutsolgov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

In connection with the Dobriev's case, Mr Mutsolgov has recalled the death of activist Muslim Khashagulgov, who had been suspected by law enforcers of association with terrorists. "According to investigators, there was an attempt to detain two local residents; however, they resisted using firearms and a grenade, as a result of which they themselves died and wounded law enforcers," said Ruslan Mutsolgov, adding that Muslim Khashagulgov "had an impeccable reputation. Public activists are sure that casualties rendered no resistance to law enforcers and had no firearms on them."

On December 12, 2018, when an explosion occurred near the "Kovcheg" Shopping Centre in Nazran. Two policemen were hospitalized after the explosion of a grenade, which the suspects threw at them during detention. According to law enforcers, the attackers were militants; they were killed at detention. Later, eyewitnesses reported that Khaniev, a seller of fragrances, and Muslim Khashagulgov, the head of the security service of the shopping centre and a civil activist were killed.
