In Ingushetia, beaten girl faces new surgery

The health state of a girl from Ingushetia, who suffered from severe beating, has improved after she underwent a surgery during which a part of her right arm was amputated, doctors report. Anna Kuznetsova, Children's Rights Commissioner in Russia, says that the girl needs a new surgery before procedures of prosthetics.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 4, the girl in serious condition was hospitalized in Ingushetia. Later, the child was transferred to the Leonid Roshal Research Institute of Emergency Pediatric Surgery and Traumatology in Moscow. On August 7, doctors amputated the girl's forearm and right hand and decided to install prosthesis after the child's recovery.

The girl lived under guardianship in her aunt's family. After the child was hospitalized, the woman was charged with intentionally causing grievous and life-threatening harm, reported the Investigating Department for Ingushetia of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).

After the Ingush girl underwent surgery, rehabilitologists take care of her, and the treatment of wounds on the amputated arm is underway, the doctors report. The girl "actively makes contact, she speaks a lot and gradually begins to walk and run," the RIA "Novosti" reported on August 12 with reference to the press service of the Leonid Roshal Research Institute of Emergency Pediatric Surgery and Traumatology.

On August 9, after the amputation surgery, the girl from Ingushetia was visited by Anna Kuznetsova, Children's Rights Commissioner in Russia. After her meeting with the girl, Anna Kuznetsova wrote on her personal Instagram page that the girl would need another surgery. "Her left arm is still hanging, and (the girl) almost never uses it. There is a bandage on her right arm, or rather, on the part of her right arm ... The girl still faces other surgeries, and then, when everything goes well, of course, there will be procedures of prosthetics," Anna Kuznetsova wrote on August 10.
