Companion of oppositionist Ali Insanov detained in Azerbaijan

Rashad Abbasly, a member of the board of the "Law and Justice" Party created by Ali Insanov, a former Minister of Public Health of Azerbaijan, was detained by unknown persons. His relatives know nothing about his whereabouts.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in 2019, Ali Insanov, a political prisoner, created the "Law and Justice" Party.

Four people grabbed Abbasly when he left his home to go to visit Insanov. He was forced into a car and taken away to some unknown place, Babek Adygezalov, a member of the board of the new party, has informed. Immediately after his arrest, Abbasly's mobile phone went off, he has added.

The party believes that Abbasly's detention has to do with his political activities in the party.

Let us remind you that Ali Insanov, convicted in 2007, by the end of his sentence in August 2016, was sentenced to seven years in prison more on charges of possession of drugs and resistance to a state servant. The consideration of his appeal against the second verdict was postponed several times, according to the advocates, in order to postpone the defence's appeal to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR). On March 16, the President of Azerbaijan pardoned 431 convicts, including Insanov.
