Court refuses to stop prosecuting activists for Baku action

The court has refused to satisfy the motion demanding to stop prosecuting activists within the case of an unsanctioned march in Baku. Activists claim that there are no proofs of their guilt.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 15, 2020, a march was held in Baku in support of the Azerbaijani Army, which ended in marchers' clashes with the police. After the action, 48 activists of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA) were arrested. On June 14, the verdict to the first group of defendants was announced: all of them received conditional imprisonment.

Mamed Ibragim, a member of the PFPA's Presidium, believes that "the court has shown a bias." He has treated the case as fabricated. "I and some other defendants were not at the march at all," he has stressed.
