Three Chechen women publicly scolded for witchcraft

On air of the state TV Channel Adam Elzhurkaev, the head of the Islamic Medicine Centre, has chastised three women from Chechnya for engaging in occultism.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that persecution of healers and psychics in Chechnya was launched in 2013, when, amid the struggle against magicians and sorcerers declared by Ramzan Kadyrov, dozens of people were detained; and some of them went missing. Then, the campaign began declining. However, since July 2019, Chechen authorities have again intensified the persecution of residents for occultism.

In its report posted on September 26 in the Instagram page, the "Grozny" ChGTRK (Chechen State TV and Radio Broadcasting Company) stated that local women were detained in the cities of Argun, Gudermes and Grozny for practising occultism. The posted video shows the above Adam Elzhurkaev scolding the women for practicing witchcraft.

Let us remand you that the hunt for sorcerers in Chechnya resulted in persecutions of their clients. Thus, on January 17, 2021, Adam Elzhurkaev reprimanded a group of men from the Shali District and even the taxi driver who drove them for their trips to a witch.
