Georgian opposition demands to recount votes
In Tbilisi, 40% of ballots were falsified, which resulted in the ruling party’s dominance in the Tbilisi City Council, claims Elene Khoshtariya, the leader of the “Droa” Party. According to opposition MP Tamar Kordzaya, throughout the whole country, votes at 478 polling stations should be recounted because of violations.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on October 2, Georgia held voting at the elections of mayors and MPs. Observers mentioned such violations as abuse of administrative resources and pressure on observers as the most typical.
In Tbilisi, there is an imbalance in 40% of ballots, Elene Khoshtariya claims. According to her, surplus of ballots has been revealed at 26 polling stations, which means that a ballot staffing took place. According to the politician, following the results of the elections to the sakrebulo (City Council) of Tbilisi, the “Georgian Dream” Party has the advantage of two votes. “The Tbilisi society has chosen the opposition,” the leader of the “Droa” Party said as quoted by the “Georgia Online”.
In Tbilisi alone, the final protocols of the election of mayor contain discrepancies at 306 polling stations, while protocols of the elections of MPs – at 323, opposition MP Tamar Kordzaya reported.
“We demand a recount of votes at the polling stations in question, so we will protect every vote,” the “Report” edition quotes her as saying.
If necessary, votes will be recounted, claims Mikhail Sardjveladze, an MP from the “Georgian Dream” Party.
