728 Azerbaijanis return home from Dagestan
Six groups of Azerbaijani citizens have been sent home from Dagestan across the land border, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Azerbaijan reports.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that a temporary accommodation centre (TAC) for Azerbaijani citizens awaiting the opening of the state border is located on the territory of a children’s camp in the Kaitag District of Dagestan. According to Dagestani rescuers, on November 16, almost all citizens of Azerbaijan were transported across the border. As of November 24, there were two people staying in the TAC. Citizens of Azerbaijan prefer to use air communication so as not to wait for weeks in Dagestan for the temporary opening of the land border, says human rights defender Afig Allakhverdiev. As of December 7, 62 citizens of Azerbaijan waited for crossing the border.
On December 22-27, in accordance with the daily quota set by the headquarters under the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan, six groups crossed the border between Russia and Azerbaijan through the “Yarag Kazmalyar-Samur” border checkpoint: 728 people out of 766 registered.
“In total, 217 of our compatriots were transferred across the border in the period from January 29 to December 27,” the “Trend” agency reported with reference to the MFA of Azerbaijan.
