Yerevan opposition demands from authorities to stop political repressions

On June 11, the youth wing of the "Resistance" oppositional movement held a march in Yerevan demanding the release of activists detained at recent activists' rallies. Protesters have treated these people as political prisoners and stated that authorities were trying to extinguish the opposition movement by means of arrests.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since April 25, the Armenian opposition has been holding protests demanding the resignation of Nikol Pashinyan and his government, including various protest forms in Yerevan, the capital of Armenia.

In Armenia, democracy and justice are selective, activists have stated, noting that they will not stop their struggle and achieve the removal of Nikol Pashinyan and his team from power.

Protesters believe that authorities are trying to persecute activists by using various methods, including fabrication of criminal cases against them in order to suppress the protest movement.

"In fact, authorities must understand that such actions will not extinguish the movement; on the contrary, instead of each new arrested activist, his relatives and friends go out to the square," Oganes Arutyunyan, a participant in the action, a member of the initiative group "Voice of Youth", told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

He has added that cases are fabricated against activists under the articles of "hooliganism", "attempt to overthrow the power", etc.; and today there are about 50 political prisoners in the country.
