Opposition accuses Pashinyan of lobbying Turkish and Azeri interests

Nikol Pashinyan, the Prime Minister, and his team are promoting the Azerbaijani and Turkish agendas to the detriment of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, the participants in the march held in Yerevan have stated.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that starting from April 25, the Armenian opposition has been holding protest actions against Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The protestors demand not to lower the bar on the status of Nagorno-Karabakh and exclude the possibility of Nagorno-Karabakh being included in Azerbaijan.

In France Square of Yerevan, supporters of the opposition have held another rally demanding the resignation of Nikol Pashinyan and his government. After the rally, activists marched through the central streets of Yerevan, chanting slogans against Pashinyan. It follows from the live broadcast on the "Yerkir.am" website, which was watched by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Edgar Kazaryan, a former Armenian Ambassador to Poland, have accused the ruling party of promoting the Turkish and Azerbaijani interests. According to his version, Pashinyan is surrendering the Lachin Corridor to Azerbaijan. "The tripartite statement (dated November 9, 2020) noted that the project should be approved within three years. But who and when has agreed to approve the project? What is Azerbaijan building? It's naive to believe that Azerbaijan will build the highway for his own budget and guarantee the safety of movement along it," Mr Kazaryan has stated at the rally.

Aik Mamidjanyan, the secretary of the "I have the honour" parliamentary faction, also believes that Pashinyan and his team are serving the interests of Turkey and Azerbaijan. "Therefore, they defend Pashinyan in Turkey. The ruling power, as well as Turkish and Azeri authorities, treats us (the opposition) as revanchists," Mr Mamidjanyan has stated.

The opposition announced new protests; the next rally is scheduled for July 15.
