Ingush resident suspected of discrediting Russian Armed Forces after a comment on social media

The police and the FSB suspected a resident of Ingushetia of discrediting the Russian Armed Forces because of his comment on a social media outlet, posted four days before the start of the special military operation.

Employees of the Ingush Centre to Combat Terrorism (also known as Centre “E”), together with their colleagues from the regional FSB department, found the discrediting of the Russian Armed Forces in a comment left by a local resident under a post on a social media outlet, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for Ingushetia reports today. The comment was written on February 20, the Ingush MIA reports.

It should be noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of the special military operation in Ukraine on February 24. The administrative liability for discrediting the Russian Armed Forces (Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation) was introduced on March 4. Activists, including those in the cities of Southern Russia, began to be persecuted under this article as well. Posts and comments on social media also become a reason for suspicion of discrediting the Russian Armed Forces. In particular, on July 15, in Magas, a court found Ingush residents Musa Abadiev and Sabina Tsurova guilty of discrediting the Russian Armed Forces.
