Journalist Vladimir Sevrinovsky released in Dagestan
Vladimir Sevrinovsky, a journalist, arrested for five days in Makhachkala, is back at large. According to his story, he was detained with the use of force; policemen ignored the fact that he was performing his journalistic assignment.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 30, Sevrinovsky was taken to a police station in Makhachkala. According to his version, law enforcers asked him to show his documents when he was walking down the street, and after he showed his passport, they asked him to go to the police station to "answer to a couple of questions." However, when he asked about the grounds for his detention, he was forced into a police car; his trousers were torn. Also, during the detention, a law enforcer made a “neck grab,” the journalist has added.
Vladimir asserts that the protocol on the offense, according to which he used foul language in a public place, was drawn up "on the basis of perjury."
Let us remind you that on September 25 and 26, large-scale anti-mobilization actions were held in Makhachkala. Law enforcers also detained the journalists who covered the protests. Thus, Murad Muradov***, a "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, was detained. On September 29, his defence convinced the court that Muradov was doing his reporter's work in the square, and the court dismissed the case.
On September 26, law enforcers detained Idris Yusupov, a journalist of the "Novoye Delo" outlet, and Sergey Ainbinder, editor-in-chief of the "RusNews", who had come to cover the protest rally. Ainbinder reported that he was beaten up, and his equipment was broken.
On September 26, Yulia Vishnevetskaya, a Radio Liberty correspondent, was detained at the protest venue in Makhachkala; she was arrested for five days.
