After fashion show, Makhachkala designer accused of gay propaganda

After a fashion show in Makhachkala, the police have opened a case against Elnara Askerova, a designer, for promoting non-traditional sex among children; two guys in effeminate images participated in the show. However, the video from the show was spread not by Askerova, but by the so-called "morality proponents", who had filmed it, an activist of the SK SOS Crisis Group has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in October, social media users reacted violently to a video from the opening of a store in Makhachkala, where two young men in feminine images took part in the above fashion show. The participants and spectators of the event faced threats, Svetlana Anokhina, a journalist, has reported. The participants of the show did not agitate anyone, so they cannot be accused of promoting homosexuality, lawyers have concluded.

The Makhachkala boutique "Gray House", to the opening of which the resonant show was timed, was positioned as a women's one. After the scandal, the store was closed.

"Two young guys with light make-up performed at the show ... As Askerova has emphasizes, all the images at the show were stage ones; women were invited to view the collection, mostly friends and acquaintances," said Alexandra Miroshnikova, the press secretary for the SK SOS Crisis Group.

The scandal broke out due to the fact that one of the passers-by saw the show through the windows that were not covered with curtains and began filming the event.
