Complaint to Putin about power supply problems in Dagestan sparks criticism of local authorities

An open letter with a complaint about problems with power supplies in Dagestan was sent to the President of Russia by Polad Nametullaev, a deputy of the City Assembly of Derbent. After that, residents of Dagestan criticized the republic's authorities in the social network. They believe that power supply problems should be dealt with by local officials, not by the federal government.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 11, residents of Dagestan began to massively complain in social networks about problems with electricity supplies. On January 13, residents of a dwelling settlement near Makhachkala went to a protest action, stating that they had a power outage for the fourth day. The next day, Manvel Mazhonts, a Deputy Prime Minister of Dagestan, criticized the power professionals.

Polad Nametullaev has written an open letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin, in which he complained about the problem with power supplies in Dagestan. He has noted that as soon as the cold weather came and snow fell, a "natural disaster" occurred in the electric supply system of the republic.

He asked Vladimir Putin to immediately intervene into and influence the situation. He also mentioned in his letter similar problems with gas supplies to the republic.

Some commentators have treated the appeal to Putin as inappropriate.

"If the president is already being addressed, it means that the head of the republic is no longer coping with the problems," the user Abdul Askhabov has stated.
