Resident of Buynaksk convicted of calling for protests

A resident of Buynaksk, who posted calls in social networks to participate in protests against regular power outages, has been sentenced to four months of freedom restriction.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since January 11, residents of Dagestan have been massively complaining about problems with electricity supplies. On January 13, residents of a village near Makhachkala went out to a protest action, stating that they had been deprived of electricity for the fourth day; after the action the power supply was restored.

Islamutdin Yusupov was sentenced for calling for protests due to regular power outages, writes the “OVD-Info”* project. He was charged with inciting riots and violence against citizens.

The court has found the defendant’s full admission of his guilt, his repentance, a positive reference, his Category II disability and his age as mitigating circumstances. Yusupov is forbidden to change his permanent residence without notice, travel outside Buynaksk, and attend mass and other events.
