Activist Polyudova’s mother visits her daughter in penal colony
Tatiana Polyudova has said that she succeeded in seeking a visit to her daughter, activist Daria Polyudova, who is serving her sentence in a penal colony in Kabardino-Balkaria on an extremism case. Tatiana Polyudova notes that her daughter is still being kept in strict detention conditions.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on January 31, human rights defenders claimed that Daria Polyudova was under pressure from the administration of the penal colony and other prisoners. The human rights defenders announced raising money for legal assistance to the activist.
The activist’s mother wrote on Daria Polyudova’s page in Facebook* that earlier, one of the prisoners hit Daria Polyudova, after which a hematoma appeared on her face.
Tatiana Polyudova also said that her daughter celebrated her birthday in the penal colony. The activist got a lot of letters and postcards from people supporting her.
Let us remind you that on October 19, 2023, the Supreme Court (SC) of Russia refused to reduce Daria Polyudova's nine-year sentence in the case on creating an extremist community and publicly justifying terrorism. The activist herself claimed that there was no evidence of her creating an extremist community and complained about obstacles in the penal colony in exchanging letters with her relatives and friends, the cold temperature, and lack of medicines.
*On March 21, 2022, the Tverskoi Court of Moscow banned the activities in Russia of the Meta Company, owning the Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, in connection with extremist activities.
