Police stops action of young oppositionists in the capital of Azerbaijan
Today, in the city of Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, activists of the "Dalga" (Wave) youth oppositional movement were holding a protest action, which was stopped by the police.
This time, the action was dedicated to protection of Baku's ecology and demanded to restrict the use of motor transport.
As an alternative, the young men called on their fellow citizens to use bicycles. The participants of the action made a march on bicycles along the central streets of the capital. They hang up posters on themselves with the following slogans: "Go to work on a bicycle!", "Give up your car!" Young men also demanded to build special bicycle tracks in Baku.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports that the police has stopped the youth action and arrested several of its participants.
We remind you that on November 23 the "Dalga" youth movement held a theatrical protest performance in the centre of Azerbaijani capital in support of the arrested journalists.
