Claudia Podrez: Stavropol residents live worse today than under Stalin

Fifty percent of the victims of political repressions who live now in the Stavropol Territory are positively treating Joseph Stalin, since today they live worse than under Stalin's rule, Claudia Podrez, chair of the Stavropol Regional public organization of invalids-victims of political repressions, said today to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"Although we were born in special settlement, we could study free of charge at schools, institutes and other educational institutions. And what is now? Earlier I paid 9 roubles per month for my one-room flat, including electricity and telephone. And now I have to pay 1100 roubles for the same flat.

We live worse now than under Stalin! Prices grow every day, and our pension steps up in kopecks. We've been deprived of everything. Even of trips in trolleybuses! They, villains, sold even the trolleybus park," Ms Podrez said.

According to her story, on March 5, on the 55th anniversary of Stalin's death, the Stavropol Regional Organization of Victims of Political Repressions is not planning to hold any political actions: meetings, pickets, etc.

"Should we go out to rallies, they would be not against Stalin, but against the present power, against their anti-people's policy, mad prices on everything - from foodstuffs to housing and communal services," Claudia Podrez has added.
