Activist of "Another Russia" in Rostov oblast complains to court about conditions in pre-trial prison
An appeal of Pavel Nagibin, activist of "Another Russia", against the conditions of his custody at the pre-trial prison of Rostov's Kirov district militia unit will be considered on March 18 by the Pervomaiski district court of Rostov-on-Don.
Nagibin claims that he was not given any food or bed linen in the prison for 2 days. Additionally, Nagibin states that his relatives have not been informed about his arrest.
According to Nagibin, his rights have been violated: "I am entitled to have food according to norms, a place for sleeping and 2 square meters of space. However, the three of us were held in a cell less than 4 square meters in area, there was no room to sleep because the bench was only 30 cm wide".
Pavel Nagibin was detained during picketing with a demand to register the federal list of candidates from "Another Russia" coalition on November 24, 2007.
Pavel Nagibin wants the court to "recognize the conditions of holding him under arrest as illegal, to oblige the responsible party to rectify the violations" and calls on everybody who was detained in the pre-trial prison and faced similar violation to act as witnesses.
