Several oppositionists beaten in Georgia
Amiran Iobashvili, a member of the Party "Movement for United Georgia", was beaten in the morning near his house by five person in masks armed with truncheons. Earlier, at night, two members of the block "United Opposition: National Council - Right-Wingers" and the Republican Party were beaten in Tbilisi and Gori.
"In Tbilisi, two cars without license plates with people in masks are wondering. They are hunting people. I wonder, where the police is all this time?" asks Eka Beseliya, Secretary General of the "Movements for United Georgia".
The "News-Georgia" Agency adds that Nachi Djarkava, an observer at the parliamentary elections from the United Opposition, was beaten at night at the doorway of his own house in Tbilisi. In the city of Gori, Republican Ramin Abuladze was beaten by unknown persons. The morning victim Amiran Iobashvili was brought to the Gudushuauri hospital with a brain concussion.
The opposition in Georgia is protesting against the outcomes of the May 21 parliamentary elections. On June 10, on the first day of the session of the new parliament, the opposition is going to block all the entrances to the building not to let the deputies from the ruling party in.
