Mamay Mound and Elborus are among seven Russian wonders
The two-peak Elborus mountain, the highest peak of Russia and Europe, located in the junction of the borders of Kabardino-Balkaria and Karachaevo-Circassia, and the Mamay Mound memorial with the statue of Mother-Homeland in Volgograd have been enlisted among seven Russian wonders.
Today, on the Day of Russia, the voting results of the contest "Seven Wonders of Russia" have been announced in the Red Square. The winners were defined by almost 26 million Russians.
Apart from the Mamay Mound memorial complex and Elborus mount, the wonders of Russia are Peterhof, Saint Basil the Blessed Cathedral in Moscow, Lake Baikal, Aeration Columns in Man-Pupu-Nyor and the Valley of Geysers on Kamchatka.
We remind you that the South Federal District had also nominated the unique monument of architecture - the Vovnushki tower complex, located in a high-mountainous part of Ingushetia, which was among the finalists.
