Delegation of scholars from USA, China and Canada visited Ingushetia

The participants of the conference "The rights of Moslem minorities and threats of Islam extremism" held yesterday in Vladikavkaz, Northern Ossetia, have made a reconnaissance trip to Ingushetia.

"Ingushetia" state TV-radio company reports that the members of the delegation which includes scholars from USA, China, Canada, representatives of the Moscow Carnegy Centre, the Institute of Social Studies in Beijing and others have met with the leadership of Ingushetia, representatives of scientific circles and public of the republic. They discussed the issues of inter-confessional cooperation, the problems of forced migrants from the Prigorodny district of Northern Ossetia, and the issues of cooperation between the authorities and the clergy.

"I am an American and this is my first trip to Ingushetia. It is a good opportunity for me to learn something about your republic, about the culture and customs of Ingushetia people," said Rose Ghettemuller, head of the Carnegy Centre Moscow office, who took part in the meeting, in an interview to the local TV channel.
