Dagestan prosecutors refuse to initiate criminal case against founder of "Nastoyascheye Vremya" newspaper

The Investigatory Department of the Investigatory Committee under the Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation for Dagestan has failed to find any crime elements in the actions of Rizvan Rizvanov, the founder of the newspaper "Nastoyascheye Vremya" (Present Time), and decided not to open a criminal case against him.

The conclusion on the investigation of the case opened upon the application of the journalists of the newspaper, signed by inspector Arslan Nasrutdinov, runs: "It has been established by the examination that in October 2007 Rizvanov provided the editor-in-chief with a list of persons forbidden for mentioning in the newspaper (both as authors and heroes of published materials). In this case, there was no mental or physical influence on the creative workers of the newspaper by Rizvanov or someone else."

Rizvan Rizvanov himself told the investigatory bodies that "he had never compiled any list of authors, whose materials he had allegedly forbidden to publish, and, accordingly, he could not provide the editor-in-chief with such a list."

We remind you that on March 26, 2008, 15 journalists of the "Nastoyascheye Vremya" newspaper addressed the Investigatory Department with a demand to initiate a criminal case against Rizvanov, having accused him of interfering into the editorial policy.
