Relatives of Dzhavatkhanov assassinated in Chechnya deny his links with separatists

Relatives and friends of Ramzan Dzhavatkhanov, 25, a resident of Tevzani village, who, according to Chechen power agents, was liquidated on October 27 near Makhkety village during a special operation, assert that a couple of days prior to his death Ramzan was kidnapped by unidentified persons.

According to his relatives, the statements of the bosses of the local Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) that Ramzan Dzhavatkhanov was a member, from the beginning of 2009, of the armed underground, are not true. "Earlier Ramzan was several times detained by power agents, and not only he, but also his wife and brother. It happened, probably, because one of his close relatives was a militant; and they tried to accuse Ramzan and others of complicity," Ramzan's close relative said to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to her version, "some three-four days before his death, Ramzan was again taken away by some armed people. And then it was announced that he was a militant, and he was killed, when Ramzan opened fire on militiamen from a sub-machine gun. But he never had any weapons."

The woman believes that one of the reasons of what happened could be in the actions of Chechen authorities who award militiamen with money and cars for every liquidated militant. According to her story, this is far from being a single case.

Let us remind you that yesterday, on October 28, law enforcement bodies of the Chechen Republic reported that on October 27 in a large forest of the Vedeno District, in the course of a joint special operation, conducted by local and federal power agents, a militant who rendered armed resistance at detention was killed.
