Sochi: 30 builders cannot get paid because of contractor-customer conflict

A team of 30 builders who were involved in repairing the sanatorium "Izvestia" in Sochi, cannot receive their wages, because the directorate of the sanatorium failed to transfer money for the works performed, said the contractor's representative. In its turn, the customer's party asserts that the reason for non-payment is in poor quality of the works.

The "Investstroy" Company had been contracted for the above repair works at the sanatorium, as Ruslan Magamedov, the company's representative in Sochi, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. The Closed Joint-Stock Company (CJSC) "Izvestia" undertook to pay 6.812 million roubles for the works.

The works done; however, about two million roubles, which make the workers' wages, have not arrived to the bank account of the "Investstroy", said Ruslan Magamedov. According to his story, the team of workers included mostly residents of Chechnya and Dagestan.

"This team received nothing... The workers were forced to leave home without money under the onslaught of the campaign of deportation of all migrant workers from Sochi," said Magamedov, adding that he did not consider the arguments about poor quality reasonable. According to his version, the defects appeared not through the workers' fault of performers: they had to work with the materials supplied by the customer.
