Russian General Prosecutor's Office accuses Ali Taziev of attack on Nazran
Ivan Sydoruk, the Deputy General Prosecutor of Russia, has approved the indictment in the criminal case against earlier convicted Ali Taziev, known under a nickname of Magas. He is accused of the attack on Nazran in June 2004.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 15, 2013, in Rostov-on-Don, the North Caucasus District Military Court sentenced Ali Taziev to life imprisonment on charges of creation and control of the criminal armed groupings involved in a number of very serious crimes. The defendant pleaded guilty in part. On February 18, 2014, the Supreme Court (SC) of the Russian Federation upheld the sentence of life imprisonment for Ali Taziev.
According to investigators, at night of June 22, 2004, members of the criminal grouping led by Shamil Basaev, including Ali Taziev, attacked the facilities of law enforcement and military agencies, citizens, and organizations in Ingushetia.
The investigators have found out that as a result of the attack on a post of the road-and-patrol service (known as DPS), which involved Ali Taziev, 22 law enforcers and soldiers were killed and three others were wounded. Besides, the attack also killed eight and wounded three civilians.
