Several dying stray animals were found in the "South-East-2" on September 3. According to locals, dog-hunters also killed pets, which had owners.
Locals state that they are preparing an application to the prosecutor's office.
On September 4, Alexander Petrov, the Public Prosecutor of Astrakhan, said that he had received no complaints about the actions of dog-hunters; however, his office was ready to consider them.
"People, who try to regulate the population of stray animals in such an inhumane way, may face punishment of up to two years in prison. For this, residents of Astrakhan need to file a respective application to the prosecutor's office," he said, adding that the city is being insufficient in addressing the problem of stray animals.
