Eight people perished in shootout in Dagestan

Seven militants and one fighter of Special Forces were killed today during a counterterrorist operation (CTO) in the Karabudakhkent District of Dagestan, three other law enforcers were wounded, the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today at 3:30 a.m. Moscow time, the Karabudakhkent District was put under the CTO regime. Law enforcement sources have reported that, according to preliminary data as of 1:39 p.m. Moscow time, two suspected militants were killed, one fighter of Special Forces perished, and three other power agents were wounded in a shootout.

According to the NAC, in the course of the CTO conducted in the Karabudakhkent District seven militants and one FSB agent were killed, and three law enforcers were wounded, the RIA "Novosti" reported at 3:38 p.m. Moscow time.

According to a Dagestan law enforcement source, the militants killed in a shootout with power agents, were members of the "Makhachkala" grouping, the RIA "Novosti" adds.
