Armenian opposition demands to remove President Serzh Sargsyan from power
About 300 people gathered at a rally in Yerevan demanding to remove Serzh Sargsyan from power and release political prisoners.
On March 2, Armen Sargsyan, nominated by the ruling coalition, was elected President of Armenia.
The rally was organized the "For the Sake of State of Armenia" Front and the Diaspora organization "Armenian Renaissance".
Armen Martirosyan, the head of the "Heritage" Party, called the aim of the action to "trigger radical reforms in Armenia." "We intend to achieve this through peaceful disobedience actions. People should dictate their will to the authorities, and not vice versa," he told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
Mr Martirosyan treats Serzh Sargsyan's appointment to the post of Prime Minister, who will be considered the first person of the state, as unacceptable.
The head of the "Heritage" Party has added that today Armenian Diasporas have also held rallies in London, Paris, Strasbourg and Los Angeles.
