Stavropol CTO is fourth armed incident in the territory since start of year
The counterterrorist operation (CTO) in Stavropol on December 19, during which two persons were killed, was preceded in the Stavropol Territory by three armed incidents related to the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. As a result of the four incidents, six people were killed and two others wounded.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today in Stavropol, according to the Russian FSB, members of the "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization banned in Russia by the court, rendered armed resistance at detention and were killed. The two casualties were not residents of the region, the local authorities have reported.
According to the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own information and reports from other open sources, this case has become the fourth armed incident in the Stavropol Territory since the start of 2018.
On April 21, the FSB issued a message that in the Stavropol Territory, an IS militant, who had prepared terror acts, rendered armed resistance at detention during the arrest and had killed. Then, law enforcers did not disclose the place of the incident.
On May 1, in the city of Neftekumsk, a man attacked a criminal search agent with a knife and tried to escape. At detention, he stabbed another policeman, after which he was killed. The IS* claimed responsibility for that attack on law enforcers.
On May 4, in Nevinnomyssk, two men were killed in a shootout with law enforcers, who then declared them to be leaders of a religious extremist unit, who had planned terror acts.
* Islamic State (IS, former ISIL) is a terrorist organization banned in Russia by the court ruling
