Chechen MIA reports attack on law enforcers' post

A resident of the Ingush village of Psedakh was killed after he attacked a mobile police post in the Sunzha District of Chechnya; two law enforcers were wounded, the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has reported.

According to Chechen law enforcers, the attack was committed at night on January 26, but the information about it was made public only on January 28.

According to law enforcers, the post in the outskirt of the dwelling settlement of Sernovodskoye, where Chechen policemen and "Rosgvardia" (Russian National Guard) riot fighters were on duty, was shelled from submachine; and the law enforcers opened the return fire.

"Two policemen received wounds of varying gravity and later received the necessary medical assistance. A service car was mechanically damaged," says the message posted on the MIA's website.

The body of the attacker, according to the message, was found in the forest on January 26; "a Kalashnikov submachine gun was found next to the body." The casualty was pre-identified as Mansur Beltoev, a 24-year-old resident of the village of Psedakh in the Malgobek District of Ingushetia, who since October 2017 had been on the federal wanted list, the MIA has added.
