Sevgiya Ismailova not to complain about her relatives to Baku police

The Baku police are not investigating the incident with Sevgiya Ismailova, a Russian citizen, who has stated that she is exposed to domestic violence in Azerbaijan because of her sexual orientation.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that the 18-year-old Ismailova told that she had run away from her relatives in Azerbaijan because of bullying. Rights defenders believe that the incident was caused by the Caucasian tradition to make decisions for their children.

According to Sevgiya’s friends, she was lured to Baku by deceit, where her relatives intended to forcibly "cure" her homosexuality.

“Personally, I didn’t write any applications to the police; it was done by my girlfriend Polina, while I was in Azerbaijan,” said Ismailova. She is ready to help those who have occurred in similar situations, but she doesn’t want any publicity.

The Russian LGBT Network is ready to help Ismailova.

"We didn’t burn down her documents; we didn’t beat her up. I’m just very concerned about my daughter. I’m shocked, and I want her to return home. I’ll treat her," the “First News” Agency quotes Rasmiya Ismailova, her mother, as saying.
