HRC "Memorial" associates assassination attempt on blogger Abdurakhmanov with Kadyrov's threats against critics
An assassination attempt on Tumso Abdurakhmanov, who criticizes the Chechen authorities, took place after Ramzan Kadyrov had called on to reprisals against opponents of the Chechen authorities. The law enforcement bodies refused to verify Ramzan Kadyrov's statement, the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" stated.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 26, Tumso Abdurakhmanov was hospitalized after an attack by a man who entered his apartment and hit him with a hammer. Before the assassination attempt, Tumso Abdurakhmanov received threats, said Mohmad (Muhammad) Abdurakhmanov, a brother of the blogger.
"With the connivance of the Russian authorities, Ramzan Kadyrov publicly calls for reprisals against critics of the Chechen authorities by 'killing and enjailing them'," the human rights defenders recalled.
The assassination attempt on Tumso Abdurakhmanov was not the first "attack on persona non grata for Ramzan Kadyrov," the HRC "Memorial" reports on its website. "Numerous murders and assassinations in Moscow, other regions of Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, Western and Central Europe, were committed by killers sent from Chechnya," the press service of the HRC "Memorial" reports.
