Nogai activists call on to release Elmira Kenzhibulatova

The leaders of Nogai NGOs have called to mitigate the freedom restriction measure of Elmira Kenzhibulatova, a resident of the Tarumovka District of Dagestan, who was arrested after her return home from Syria. The woman went to the Middle East to pick up her child and not to take part in hostilities, her relatives and activists assert.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Elmira, a 28-year-old resident of Dagestan, and her two daughters, six and four years old, arrived in Grozny by flight from Istanbul on March 14. The woman with her kids ended up in the "Al Khol" camp in Syria after the death of her husband. On the day of her return, she was detained by Dagestani law enforcers.

Elmira was wanted under Part 2, Article 208, of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (participation in an illegal armed formation (IAF)).

On March 29, activists of the Nogai NGOs sent a request to release Elmira Kenzhibulatova to the head of Dagestan, the chairman of the Supreme Court of Dagestan and to the heads of the republic's power bodies, an activist of the Nogai Regional National and Cultural Autonomy in the Republic of Dagestan told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"Elmira's former husband had fraudulently took away and held their common child in Syria; the woman had to go there to take away the child. As a result, she got into the above camp together with her children, and for a long time could not return home," the leaders of Nogai NGOs have stated, asking "to release Elmira Kenzhibulatova from custody and appoint the freedom restriction measure not related to deprivation of liberty."
