Ramzan Kadyrov announces step-by-step lifting of coronavirus restrictions

Chechnya will most likely first open small shops, car service stations, and petrol stations with a small number of employees, the leader of the Chechen Republic has announced today.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that a ban on all public events is in force in Chechnya, and operation of restaurants, cinemas, and retail outlets have been suspended. Entry into the region is restricted, except for those delivering food, medicine, and other vital goods. Law enforcers are patrolling streets in Chechnya at night.

Today, after participating in a meeting of the operational headquarters to combat the coronavirus infection, Ramzan Kadyrov has announced the possibility of lifting step by step the restrictive measures in Chechnya.

"I have instructed operational headquarters chief Magomed Daudov to consider the possibility to lift step by step the minor restrictive measures. If the epidemiological situation is favourable, we may gradually open small businesses, such as small shops, car service stations, and petrol stations, which engage a minimal number of personnel," Ramzan Kadyrov wrote on his pages on social networks, in particular, on Instagram.

Ramzan Kadyrov has noted that "a small positive trend" has been observed in the republic due to the imposed restrictive measures.
