FSB reports about prevented terror act in Astrakhan

Today, FSB officers have detained a resident of Astrakhan suspected of plotting an attack on administrative buildings in the city.

According to the secret services, the detainee is a supporter of the "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization banned in Russia by the court. "A resident of Astrakhan, born in 1987, intended to join illegal armed formations (IAFs) operating in the Syrian Arab Republic <...> and decided to commit a terror act in the city of Astrakhan by attacking administrative buildings with arms," the TASS quotes today the press service of the FSB Department for the Astrakhan Region as reporting.

The resident of Astrakhan swore allegiance to the IS leader and recognized the militant leader as his amir. The suspect was detained at the place of his residence, the RIA "Novosti" reports with reference to the FSB Department for the Astrakhan Region.
