Police report 18 detainees in Yerevan

Eighteen opponents to the development of the Amulsar gold field were detained at the building of the Armenian government; cases of disobeying the police were opened against them.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 6, the Yerevan police detained the human rights defender, Nina Karapetyants, at her solo picket against the development of the Amulsar deposit. The picket was held near the government building. Besides, law enforcers did not allow activists to gather in the city Mashtots mini-park.

A total of 18 activists were detained near the government building, Edgar Djanoyan, a deputy head of the information department of the Armenian Police, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. According to his story, administrative protocols were drawn up against them on disobeying the legal demand of a policeman.
