Special operation in Chechnya became the first in almost two years

The shootout in which law enforcers killed two suspected militants was the first in Chechnya since November 2018.

The armed skirmish broke out on October 11 near the border of the Sernovodsk District of Chechnya and the Sunzha District of Ingushetia after alleged militants opened fire from automatic weapons in response to an offer to surrender, the Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) has informed.

According to the "Caucasian Knot", the previous special operation, during which the wanted people opened fire in response to an offer to surrender, took place in Chechnya in November 2018. Then, a 34-year-old man and a 17-year-old teenager, armed with a rifle, resisted law enforcers in the Urus-Martan District and were killed, law enforcers of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) reported.

Let us remind you that in Ingushetia that is bordering on Chechnya, in the first six months of 2020, three special operations were conducted, including in Sunzha, where two men were killed after a clash with law enforcers.
