Social network users criticize law enforcers after murder of an activist in Dagestan

After a report about the murder of Vali Abduragimov, who tried to resist drug trafficking, some social network users have noted that law enforcers, and not activists, are to fight against drug dealers.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 3, a 23-year-old local resident was killed on the slope of Tarki-Tau Mountain in Makhachkala. A 28-year-old resident of Makhachkala was arrested on suspicion of the murder. The murdered man was activist Vali Abduragimov from the village of Tarki, who tried to "unite the village jamaat against drug dealers" and claimed the involvement of a former law enforcer in illicit trafficking in illegal substances, social network users reported.

In their comments under the report about the murder of Vali Abduragimov, posted on January 4 in the "Voice of Dagestan" public account, social network users expressed their indignation at the murder and their condolences to the Vali Abduragimov's family.

Several network users drew attention to the fact that the fight against drug trafficking should be carried out not by activists, but by law enforcers. "The work that the murdered man had done almost alone should have been done by the police," wrote, in particular, user Muhammad Chiaraburaev.

"The guys are dying doing the work [of law enforcers]," user Magamed Magamedov also pointed out. "Where are the police, whose job is to catch criminals?" asked user Sveta Sveta.
