Relatives of Chechen who brawled with law enforcers share his responsibility

Responsibility for Said-Mukhammad Djumaev, a native of Chechnya, who was detained after a brawl with law enforcers at a rally in support of Alexei Navalny, rests on all his relatives, Djumaev's uncle told the Speaker of the Chechen Parliament.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that after the rally in support of Navalny in Moscow, Djumaev was arrested until March 23, 2021. He was accused of using violence against state officials.

Adam Delimkhanov, a Kadyrov's adviser demanded from the young man to renounce the opposition, promising instead that the head of Chechnya will help him in solving problems with the law.

Magomed Daudov, Speaker of the Chechen Parliament, explained Djumaev's behaviour with a childhood trauma, which he suffered from, according to the Speaker. "After his parents had divorced, he grew up with his mother in a foreign land, which is unusual for Chechens," Mr Daudov wrote on his Instagram.

Chechen authorities believe that Djumaev got "under the criminal influence of state's enemies," but hope that he "has nothing to do" with Navalny and his supporters.

In the video posted in the social network, a detainee's relative criticizes Navalny and assures Speaker Daudov of his law-abidingness.

  • Lawyers comment on scandal with equipment sale on behalf of "Akhmat" special unit

Lawyers have noted that it is practically impossible to hold the scammers accountable for the fact that they had sold stolen property, posing themselves as fighters of the "Akhmat" Chechen special unit. But these actions have seriously discredited the "Akhmat"; and it's possible that Chechnya's enemies are behind this, a political analyst has suggested.
