Akhmed Pogorov, co-chair of World Congress of Ingush People, detained in Ingushetia

Law enforcers have detained Akhmed Pogorov, a co-chairman of the World Congress of Ingush People, who was on the wanted list within the case of a rally in Magas, his advocate has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 11, 2019, information about the detention of Pogorov also appeared, but his advocate, Magomed Bekov, refuted it. Law enforcers searched Pogorov's house; they behaved rudely, frightened the children and did not allow them to finish their prayer. Law enforcers were looking for a "secret room", said Pogorov's relatives.

On April 27, 2019, Akhmed Pogorov, a former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Ingushetia, was put on the wanted list within the case of the March 2019 protest in Magas. On March 26, 2019, residents of Ingushetia, without authorities' sanction, extended the protest rally in Magas, which led to clashes with law enforcers. Arrests of oppositionists began in April 2019 in the republic. According to the calculations of the "Caucasian Knot", at least 96 activists were persecuted, against at least 29 of them criminal cases were initiated.
