Prosecution requests five years in colony for Djumaev

The state prosecutor believes that Said-Mukhammad Djumaev, a native of Chechnya, deserves a punishment of five years in a general security colony, a source familiar with the trial has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the case of the ethnic Chechen, Said-Mukhammad Djumaev, who came into confrontation with law enforcers at a rally in support of Alexei Navalny in Moscow on January 23, 2021, is being considered by the Moscow Tver District Court.

On May 28, the court listened to Djumaev's last plea and retired to the deliberation room for writing the verdict, the advocates have reported. They believe that there are no grounds for sentencing him to imprisonment.

Meanwhile, the state prosecutor in Djumaev's case has demanded for him a sentence of five years in a general regime colony, the "Interfax" reports citing a source familiar with the trial.

The source has added that the Tver District Court will announce the sentence on May 31.
