Prisoners stage riots in Vladikavkaz colony

About six hundred inmates have organized riots at the maximum security penal colony in North Ossetia because a conflict with the colony administration, sources have reported.

The incident occurred in Correctional Colony No. 1 in Vladikavkaz on October 15. According to various sources, the riots were staged by 200-600 convicts because of a conflict with the colony staff.

The riots in the colony were suppressed, the RIA "Novosti" has reported with reference to the sources from emergency services.

As a result of the riots, several people suffered, the "Interfax" has cited its source. According to preliminary data, the conflict broke out because of the unwillingness of some inmates to comply with the regime established in the colony, the "Interfax" has explained.
