Kadyrov’s statement about Ukraine demonstrates his sense of immunity
For years, Ramzan Kadyrov allows himself to make judgments about the Russia’s foreign policy, including the situation with Ukraine, despite the Kremlin’s statements about the need for subordination in such matters. The Kremlin’s reaction to the repeated call to annex Ukraine to Russia voiced by Ramzan Kadyrov looks formal, political analysts note.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov reacted to the words voiced by the leader of Chechnya who said that if he were the head of the state, he “would have taken Ukraine long ago” by sending troops there. Dmitry Peskov recalled that the foreign policy of the state is in the competence of Vladimir Putin. Ramzan Kadyrov explained his statement about Ukraine by calling it his personal position.
Mikhail Vinogradov, the head of the “Petersburg Politics” Foundation, believes it is not worth talking about the Dmitry Peskov’s declaration as a harsh reaction to Ramzan Kadyrov’s words, and it is unlikely to have consequences.
Yevgeny Minchenko, the president of the “Minchenko Consulting” holding, believes that with his reaction, Dmitry Peskov not only did not put Ramzan Kadyrov in his place, but even encouraged him.
“Dmitry Peskov said that Ramzan Kadyrov could also run for president of the Russian Federation,” Yevgeny Minchenko noted.
Earlier, Ramzan Kadyrov has already given advice to the Kremlin about Ukraine and other countries. So, in December 2009, the leader of Chechnya said that Georgia and Ukraine were “a disease of Russia that needed to be eradicated.”
